IAEA Student Show

Forty Pieces of student artwork have been selected for inclusion in the annual art show of the Illinois Art Education Association.  This year over 400 entries from grades k - 12 were submitted from IAEA members.  “The judging process was long & labored due to the tremendous amount of high quality work submitted this year” said show chairperson Venessa Hardy of Lisle Senior High School.

This year’s Student Show reception was held on Saturday, November 7th at the Lisle Hilton as part of the IAEA’s Professional Development Conference.  "The student show is always a highlight of the annual IAEA conference and this year was no exception. The art work by the students was inspiring and enjoyed by all" said Judy Doebler, IAEA president.  Students and their families were invited to attend an award ceremony to acknowledge and honor the winners.  Each student was presented a certificate from Doebler and also received a prize bag filled with art supplies contributed by Mayco, the American Academy of Art, Blick Art Materials, Ester’s Place, Young Arts, Sax Arts, Royal Brush, Handy Art and Flashpoint.

The art show will be traveling throughout the state from November 2009 to June 2010.  It begins the tour at the public schools in Galena in November & December.  From there it will go to McHenry’s High Schools and public library in January, in February at Town and Country Public Library in Elburn, in March at Mattoon Middle School, in April at the Dr. Scholl Gallery of Marmion Academy in Aurora, and in May at Next Picture Gallery in Dixon.  Please check individual hosting sites for specific locations & times.
